Intracranial arachnoid cyst temporal left.preoperative cMRI axial T1 with contrast mediumpreoperative cMRI axial T2preoperative cMRI coronar T2The dura mater of the convexity was opened after osteoplastic craniotomy. One looks into the arachnoid cyst onto the displaced temporal lobe cortex. The superficial cortical veins and arteries and the delicate lining of the cyst are also visible. The surgical treatment of a symptomatic arachnoid cyst is performed by a microsurgical opening of the cyst into the basal cisterns, the subarachnoid space or the ventricular system. Thus a further increase in the size of the cyst is prevented. Usually the opening is made between optic nerve and internal carotid artery (magnified). Upon successful operation pulsating cerebrospinal fluid can be seen.
