The superficial cortical veins and arteries and the delicate lining of the cyst are also visible.The surgical treatment of a symptomatic arachnoid cyst is performed by a microsurgical opening of the cyst into the basal cisterns, the subarachnoid space or the ventricular system. Thus a further increase in the size of the cyst is prevented. Usually the opening is made between optic nerve and internal carotid artery (magnified). Upon successful operation pulsating cerebrospinal fluid can be seen.
