Sand tiger sharks are viviparous and have an intrauterine cannibalism. I.e. always the strongest embryo in the womb eats the next weaker one. At the end a powerful animal with the greatest chance of survival will be born. In rare cases up to 2 cubs are born, one growing in each uterine horn.
