Hand reflexology chart
In 1913, American ENT doctor William Fitzgerald developed an concept of dividing the body into ten zones. On each the right and left side of the spine are five longitudinal zones that consist of ten paths, or streams of energy. Those longitudinal zones end at the feet, so that there all organs can be found again in reduced shape. Thus, stimulation of a skin area can influence an organ that`s located in the same zone. Areas that represent diseased or dysfunctioning organs are, according to the reflexology therapy, significantly more sensitive to pain or altered in structure. That explains the partly painful therapy. Pressure, stroking or other touching techniques on this areas supposedly cause a better function of the organ by reciprocal effects via the nerval pathways. Reflexology massage also exists on the ears or hands. The reflexology massage is viewed by therapists as a wholistic method and thus for a variety of illnesses.
