Insulin secretion of people with Diabetes mellitus type 2
Despite increased production of insulin, not much glucose ends up in the cells. The glucose metabolism disorder manifests in: 1.) a restricted effect of the insulin on the tissue and a decreased sensitivity of the cells to insulin 2.) a malfunctioning insulin secretion by the Beta cells of the pancreas, that exhaust theirselves due to the constant stimulus to produce insulin 3.) an increase of the body`s own glucose production by the liver.
