Depiction of an endoscopic examination: The intestinal mucosa is evaluated with a camera in a coloscopy (Endoskopie, right), and tissue samples (biopsy) are sometimes taken. In a gastroscopy (Gastroskopie left), the mucosa of the esophagus, the stomach, and parts of the small intestine are evaluated.
The endoscope is pushed forward through the anus or the mouth. The examination serves as an evaluation of tissue changes like tumor. It’s offered for medical screening in the FRG.
