Cases of anterior uveitis present with a red eye as the main symptom, whereas posterior uveitis mainly causes a decrease in visual acuity. All forms of uveitis can cause the following symptoms:

pain

photophobia

lacrimation

foreign body sensation

This constellation of symptoms is frequently mistaken for conjunctivitis.
