The treatment of hyperkeratoses depends on the underlying cause.In symptomatic, exogenically caused hyperkeratoses the focus is on eliminating the causative agent, such as too tight-fitting shoes in clavi. The excessive horny tissue is removed by softening (keratolysis) and ablasion of the horny layer with pumice stones, callous reducers or mechanical peelings.
