Forrest 2aUpper gastrointestinal bleeding is classified according to the classification of Forrest.

Type I: active bleeding, in type Ia squirting blood, type Ib trickling bleeding.

Type II: inactive bleeding, type IIa a vessel stump is visible, in type IIb an ulcer with a clot can be seen and type IIc is an ulcer covered with haematin.

Type III: no bleeding. However there is a visible lesion and an anamnesis indicating bleeding.
