Thyroid gland, larynx, anatomical position
The illustration shows the anatomically correct position of the thyroid gland with both lobes and isthmus, and the larynx. It also shows thyroid cartilage and some of the profound cervical muscles. The thyroid gland is probably the most well-known endocrine gland, dysfunctions occur quite often. It's formed like an H and located in front of the trachea. The right and left lobe arch around the thyroid and cricoid cartilage of the larynx. The medial connecting piece, the isthmus, is holding these lobes together.
