Human papilloma virus, HPV
Ultrastructural depiction of the capsid of human papilloma virus (icosaedric, no envelope, ds-DNA). The virus is considered responsible for the development of warts in the genital area, and of a cervical carcinoma. Since a few years, there is a vaccination against some high-risk types of the virus, which is also recommended by the STIKO.
