Blood-brain barrier
The brain is surrounded by cerebrospinal liquor. The substance exchange between blood and brain (liquor) is, except for CO2, O2, H2O, limited by the blood-brain (blood-liquor) barrier. Some substances are allowed to pass by specific transport mechanisms, which is important for giving a medicament.
