Blood-brain barrier
Enhanced section: The brain is surrounded by cerebrospinal liquor from inside and outside. The substance exchange between blood and brain (liquor) is (except for CO2, O2, H2O) restricted by the blood-brain barrier (blood-liquor barrier). Some substances have specific transport mechanisms, others don't, which is important for the giving of medicaments.
