Shortsightedness (Myopia)
Schematic illustration of a human eye with its anterior (left) and posterior (right) eye chamber, that are separated by the iris. On the very right, the exit of the optic nerve is depicted. Myopia (shortsightedness) can have to reasons: A too long ocular bulb (axial myopia), or a too strong optical power of the media (refractive myopia). The picture shows the former: The ocular bulb is relatively long (normal position of the retina indicated in grey), so that the picture occurs in front of and not on the retina.
