Fingertip structure
The picture shows the distal phalanx with fingernail. The fingernail consists of keratin, measures 0,5-0,7mm and serves as protection of the fingertips and support of the grasping function. The nail is tightly connected to the nail bed. The distal phalanx is well supplied with blood. Arteries and veins are shown as blue and red dots in the yellow adipose tissue. In the middle, the lamellar bone is shown, on which the musculature inserts. On the right, the joint is visible. The picture also shows the different layers of the skin.
