Abscess formation: proteins anneal to bacteria and clot. They are attacked and destroyed by neutrophil granulocytes and white blood cells (on the right). When too many granulocytes die during this process, they accumulate. This accumulation forms a yellow-ish liquid which is called pus. If the pus accumulation encapsulates, it is called an abscess.
