Low-power photomicrograph. Hydropic villi on left; relatively normal villi on right. Hydropic change was not apparent grossly. Preoperatively, patient had identifiable gestational sac and "deformed" embryo by ultrasound.
Ploidy studies done at Genzyme showed the tissue to be triploid.
