Knee joint
Illustration of the knee joint and menisci. The first picture shows the knee joint (articulatio genus) with its cruciate ligaments and menisci from behind. In the middle the kneecap (patella) is turned over, showing the femoral condyle with its articular surface, followed by the joint space with the anterior and posterior cruciate ligament as well as the inner and outer meniscus. Below that is the upper part of the shinbone (tibia) with its corresponding articular surface. The last picture shows a view from above of the knee joint, with the menisci and cruciate ligaments.
