Aspirin, molecular structure
Acetylsalicic acid (short: ASA) is the active ingredient of many painkillers and well known as Aspirin. The name originates from the willow plant family (lat. Salicacaea) that were already chewed against pain decades ago. The chemical formula is HOOC-C6H4-COOCH3.
