The blood type of a human being describes the composition of the proteins on their red blood cells. There are four blood types: 0, A, B, AB.
There are antibodies in the blood against the blood types that are not the own.
These antibodies can lead to clumping of blood cells in transfusions of the wrong blood type.
Blood types are genetic.
