This illustration shows a schematic section of muscle cells (red) as well as a capillary with red blood cells (erythrocytes) and insulin and glucose molecules. Insulin reaches the muscle cells from the pancreatic beta-cells in the Langerhans-islets (islet cells) via blood capillaries (hinted with red arrow here). Furthermore, the structure of the actin-myosin-skeleton is hinted in the inside of the muscle cell.
