Lymph node, cross-section
The lymph nodes are the part of the lymphatic system where the lymph is being filtered. Each lymph node is responsible for the filtration of the lymph of one region of the body, which is called tributary area. Lymph nodes are part of the immune system of an organism. They are found in humans and all mammals, primitive ones also in birds.
