Blood circulation of the liver
Blood flow of the liver via the portal vein next to the hepatic artery through the sinusoids of the hepatic lobules into the central vein up to the inferior cava vein to the heart. The inside of the vascular wall (endothelium) of the sinusoids contains Kupffer cells which are responsible for the immune defense of the liver. The bile that`s produced by the hepatocytes flows out of the lobules through the bile canaliculi.
