Comparison of Guedel and Wendle tube
The illustration compares two different insertions that are used to keep the upper respiratory tract of unconscious patients open in order to artificially respirate them. The Guedel tube is inserted via the oropharynx, the Wendle tube via the nasopharynx. They are both supposed to prevent the tongue from falling back and to ensure access to the trachea, though the Wendle tubus is seen as more comfortable, because it causes a gag reflex less frequently.
