Severe polypoid progression of a case of Crohn's disease. Here, you can see the subtotal colectomy specimen.
The then 40 year old patient has been a smoker for a long time. He was operated on a tumor of the sigmoid, when the surgeons first found what seemed to be a rare form of polyposis. It took a specialist pathologist to diagnose Crohn's disease.
The patient has been stable under cortisol, azatioprin and mesalazine since then. 3 days ago when he suffered an ileus.
