Siamese spitting cobra, Naja siamensis: spitting cobras are able to spit their poisonous secretions directly into the face in a targeted manner over a distance of 2-3 m. In the eyes, it causes severe damage up to blindness due to its cyclolytic activity, if it is not washed out quickly. Therefore, a face/eye protection has to be worn for every handling of these animals. Furthermore, he bite of this species is to be considered as potentially lethal.
