The picture shows a bleak condition of a 10-year-old prosthetic of singular crowns in the frontal teeth row. Because of insufficient mouth hygiene and smoking the gingiva and bone in the area of the crowns has receded severely and has made space for deposits like dental calculus and plaques. The dark color of the exposed root areas is a result of a previous root canal treatment of the affected teeth. The canine teeth and premolars also show massive insufficient fillings and gingival recession. In this case the only solution is the complete renewal of the prosthetic. An allergic reaction to the metal pieces in the prostetic could not be excluded, so that the treating doctors and the patient decided for a metal-free prosthetic made of zirconia ceramics.
