Single-stage splenic rupture: Development of hemorrahgic hypovolemia directly following the event of the trauma.

Two-stage splenic rupture: Development of hypovolemia after several hours or days, mostly when the capsula is intact and the rupture secondary resp. when the hematoma is expanding

The spleen is the largest lymphatic organ of the human body.The position of the sppleen in the body is intraperitoneal in the left epigastric region in the upper left quadrant. The basis of the spleen rests against the left diaphragmatic coupola. The splenic artery and vein are responsible for the vascular supply of the spleen. They form the vascular pedicle of the spleen near the organ (splenic hilus).
