Geriatric medicine is dealing with diseases of eldery people. Medical doctors with different specializations (GPs and internals, neurologists and psychiatrists) are able to aquire further education in geriatrics in germany. This course takes 18 months.Geriatric patients mostly perform some kind of geratric assessments. Some of those are listed below:

Immobility, Incontinence, Instability, Isolation, Insomnia, Impotence, Irritatable colon, Immunological deficites, Intellectual decrease, Impaired eyes and ears (Presbyopie, Presbyakusis), Impecunity (poverty) and Iatrogenics caused problems.
