For the international visitor, "thong" is an Australian term for the footwear shown (elsewhere known as flip-flops or jandals). Thongs may be categorised as single-plugger or double-plugger, depending on the number of lateral fixation points. The double-plugger is widely regarded as superior. This thong is the more humble single-plugger. In this case, the thong could not be removed for the xray as is our usual routine - the cause being clearly shown on the film.
