The retinoblastoma is a malign neoplasia of the retina. It is the most common tumor of the eye during childhood. In most cases the retinoblastoma develops before the age of three. Both eyes can be affected and there is also the possibility of multiple tumors in one eye. In most cases the retinoblastoma is discovered in a late stage, where tumor mass has pushed aside large amounts of the vitreous body. In this state the parents become aware of a leukocoria (white pupil, cats eye).
