Description: The complete bone marrow of the femur (normally just the proximal third up to half) is hematopoietic and therefore colored in dark red.
Clinical history: 55 year old male patient, AML
Comment: Normally, only the proximal third up to half of the femur contain hematopoietic bone marrow, the rest consists of fatty marrow.
