Left foot of a patient with diabetic foot syndrome. Clearly visible ulcerous and necrotic tissue as well as open wounds on the plantar side and the lateral edge of the foot, a malum perforans. Autolytic and surgical debridement for wound management. After a short foot bath (beware of infections in long baths without rinsing) the foot is rinsed with NaCl. With a forceps or scalpel the superficial necrotic material is removed and a new bandage is applied.
