Ventricles are cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) filled cavities inside of the brain. They are connected to each other by foramina and structures like the aqueduct. The ventricle system comprises 4 ventricles and develops from the central canal of the neural tube. This cavity system contains CSF and is also called the inner subarachnoid space. The outer subarachnoid space is located between arachnoidea and pia mater. Both spaces communicate with each other via the fourth ventricle. The brain has one lateral ventricle in each hemisphere, a third ventricle in the diencephalon and a fourth ventricle in the rhombencephalon. The choroid plexus inside of the ventricles secretes the CSF. The cerebrum and the endbrain make the greatest part of the human brain and the most differentiated part of the central nervous system. It is responsible for many thinking and acting processes which make the human being unique in comparison to other animals.Cranial, the cerebrum is bordered ba the cranial roof. Caudal, it is located on the middle and anterior cranial fossa. It is seperated into two hemispheres by the interhemispheric fissure. Each hemisphere can be subdivided into 4 lobes:
The surface of the cerebrum has a lot of sulci which is useful for surface extension. From all sulci and gyri, the central sulcus which seperates the frontal lobe from the parietal lobe, and the lateral sulcus which seperates the frontal- and parietal lobe from the temporal lobe, are most prominent.
