Synthetic vascular graft after resection of an ascending aortic aneurysm. The aorta is divided into 4 segments: ascending aorta, aortic arch, descending aorta, and abdominal aorta. The latter can be subdivided at the level of the origin of the renal arteries into a suprarenal and an infrarenal part. The segment distal to the origin of the left subclavian artery, including the abdominal aorta, is called the thoracoabdominal aorta. It is a common location of aneurysms.
