Description: "Standing lungs" with strongly hardened parenchyma.
Additional finding: Histology: Diffuse alveolar damage of both lungs in the proliferative phase, partly with the picture of an organizing pneumonia and with singular polynuclear giant cells of the foreign body type.
Clinical history: 56 year old female patient, ARDS. E. coli sepsis with unknown focus. Acute kidney failure. Hepatopathy (chronic ethyl abuse)
