Diagnosis: Malign pleural mesothelioma, mixed type
Description: Total tumorous encapsulation of the lung with adhesion of the parietal and visceral pleura. Involvement of the Fissurae obliquae and infiltration of the diaphragm.
Additional finding: Mesothelial infestation of the peri-/epicardium with encapsulation of the big vessels. 230 ml of bloody pericardial effusion.
Clinical findings: 64 year old female patient, diagnosis of a epitheloid pleural mesothelioma cT1-2, N0, M0 2 years ago. Talc pleurodesis. State after several cycles of chemotherapy, radiotherapy.
Comment: The dust analysis provided evidence for amphibolous absestos in the tumor tissue.
