Decubitus ulcers
Three factors play an essential role in the development:
Pressure
: The pressure in the capillaries (25.35mmHg) is exceeded, the capillaries are 'pinched off'
Duration:
Only 1-2 hours of steady pressure are enough to develope a decubitus.
Risc factors:
A wide varity of diseases promotes the process of decubitus development. These are quantified by the Norton-scale.
