The brachiocephalic trunc appears only on the right side of the body in most people. It branches off from the aortic arc and is the common root of the right subclavian artery with the right common carotid artery.
On the left side of the body these vessels generally branch of seperately from the aortic arc.
In some cases the left common carotid artery may also originate from the brachiocephalic trunc.
