Rare condition of a small intestine diverticulitis with perforation. Usually a diverticulitis is more common in elderly patients. In case of obese patient it can occur earlier ( early adulthood). The risc for diverticulitis increases with numbers of diverticula. Between 10 to 25% of all patient with diverticulosis have to deal with a diverticulitis during their lifetime.
Most common (95% of all patients) is a diverticulitis at the level of the sigmoid colon.
