A former GI received double arm transplantation with a new technique to suppress the rejection reaction.
The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore reported on the 29 of January 2013 about the successful surgery. The former GI Brendan Marrocco lost both arms and legs 2009 due to a street bomb in Afghanistan. He was the first GI in the wars in Iran and Afghanistan to survive this kind of injury and received two arms on the 18. of December.
