Typical for this form of sarcoidosis are extensive, livid infiltrations of the nose, cheeks or earlobes. Inner organs can be affected as well. When pressed with a glass spatula, dust-like grey nodules become visible. Characteristic "apple-jelly"-like colorations can be found on the skin under pressure. In small-nodule-form sarcoidosis, papulous to pea-sized small-nodule skin lesions can be found in the skin, on the extremities, the trunk and the mucosal surfaces.
