Diagnosis: Leiomyosarcoma of the thyroid with tumor infiltration of the trachea
Description: View onto the dorsally opened trachea and larynx with the vocal cords (specimen preserved in formalin). The tumor surrounds the trachea and enters it through the Pars membranacea. Subtotal obstruction of the trachea through the tumor conglomerate.
Additional findings: Lymph nodes and distal metastasis in lungs, kidneys and brain.
Clinically: Condition after two cycles of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
