Diagnosis: 74-year old patient with renal subinfarct
Description: The left kidney is mostly normal. The right kidney is noticably smaller and the the renal parenchyma shows a sharply confined sunken area with a very finely granulated surface (=subinfarct).
Comment: As a result of the stenosing vascular alteration, a focal ischemic atrophy of the cortex occurs which is characterised by a tubular atrophy and an interstitial fibrosis. Source: ©PathoPic
