Diagnosis: Atrophic kidney caused by obstruction of the right renal artery
Description: An old thrombotic obstrunction of the right renal artery caused the kidney to become atrophic and shrink. The surface of the kidney is finely granulated. The left kidney is significantly bigger and shows an infarction scar. The overall artherosclerosis is only moderate.
Clinically: Suspicion of coronary heart disease with chronic atrial fibrillation. Biventricular congestive heart failure. Renal insufficiency of unclear origin (creatinine around 300-400 micromol/l).
