Diagnosis: Gangrene of the stomach wall (slippage after gastric binding)
Description: Necrotic, black discolored stomach wall in the middle of a gastrectomy specimen.
Additional findings: On lamellar cuts the transmurally necrotic stomach wall is thinned. Gram positive rod bacteria colonize the gangrenous stomach wall.
Clinically: Necrosis of the stomach in anterior spllage in state post gastric band implantation a year ago. Total gastrectomy.
