which cancer screenings do you know?
grey: total, blue: men; orange: women
top to bottom: breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer, cervical cancer
Cancer screening tests and treatment success are known too little. The knowlegde about screening methods and diagnosis of cancer at an early stage can save lifes. But still, just a fraction of the German population knows which screenings are provided, as a current survey by opinion research institue forsa shows. Just half of the questioned citizens could name mammography for breast cancer or coloscopy for colon cancer prevention. Other screening tests wer known even less. But 470,000 men and women fall ill of cancer every year! Despite continuously improving chances of healing, still 215,000 people are dying of it every year - often because cancer is diagnosed too late.
