The brain of a human beeing is nealy oval when seen from above. The brain tissue seems yellowish-gray. On the undivided brain 3 parts can be differentiated. The big cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the hindbrain with the connection to the spinal cord.
The cerebrum is divided into two equal hemispheres by a central fissure (Fissura longitudinalis). On the surface of the cerebrum there are Gyri cerebri and between them Sulci cerebri they form its characteristic surface. Inside the gyri and sulci are the differenct centres of the brain, for example the auditory cortex inside the temporal lobe or the visual cortex inside the occipital lobe.
The avarage weight of the organ is between 1.300 and 1.600 grams.
