Pfeiffer syndrome (type I - III)
Type I
classic Pfeiffer syndrome
normal intelligence
low-extent hypoplasia of the midface, brachycephaly
low-grade anomalies of fingers and toes
Type II
Kleeblattschädel (cloverleaf skull)
exophthalmos
high-grade anomalies of fingers and toes
ankylosis / synostosis of the elbow
delayed development and neurologic complications
Type III
same symptoms as type II, but no Kleeblattschädel
The three types can overlap clinically.
