Lumbar puncture in sitting position after skin disinfection.
The lumbar puncture is a puncture of the dural sac in the area of the lumbar column. It's usually done for diagnosis of specific diseases, where pathalogical processes can be detected in the liquor (e.g. meningitis). The liquor sample is taken out of the subarachnoid cavity of the spinal cord.
