The backpack bandage usually remains for 3-4 weeks, shorter in children. It is important to mobilize the shoulder early, meaning: the shoulder is mobilized as far as the pain is supportable.
A surgical treatment of the clavicular fracture is always indicated in dislocated fractures under the danger of perforation. Then, in most cases, a plate osteosynthesis is combined with a lag screw osteosynthesis.
